On Saturday the 27th of August, 2016 the popular and controversial Gupta family announced that they intend to sell all their shareholdings in South Africa by
the end of 2016.
The family stated that they believed that the time was right for them to exit their shareholding of the South African businesses which they believe will
benefit their existing employees and lead to further growth in their
businesses. They also stated that they were already in
discussions with several international prospective buyers and will soon
be in a position to make further announcements.
